Dobiacco in the Alta Val Pusteria
   
Dobbiaco is situated at 1.256 meters in the Alta Pusteria, embedded in the high Dolomite rock faces on the one side and the Alps on the other side. Dobiacco offer a great chice of cultural and sportive in summer and also in winter. Here you can walking, climbing a lot of architectural monuments, chapels and churches will warm the heart of every culture-enthusiast.  

   
Worth seeing places in Dobiacco:
   

The "Herbst" Castle behind Dobbiaco's parish church and its cemetery, you. The fortress was built in 1500 from the brothers Caspar and Christoph Herbst and renovated in order to become the overseer's residence. In 1511, the "Herbst" Castle was visited by Emperor Maximilian I. Today, the residence is the private.

   

The parish church of San Giovanni Battista in Dobbiaco is the beautifulst example of baroque art of the Val Punteria between 1764 and 1774) . Today's Baroque church was built on the foundations of a Roman and later Gothic church. In 1804 it was constructed, I place side by side to the church, the high tower 76 meters.

   

The pilgrimage church of Santa Maria. Ffirst mentioned was this church during the first half of the 14th Century. As the original version of this church proved to be too small during the first time of pilgrimages to Mary, a Gothic church was built around 1470.

   

Gustav Mahler (1860-1911), famous composer Bohemian , passed the summers from 1908 to 1910 in Dobbiaco, near the maso Trenker in Carbonin Vecchia . Inspirations to the beauty of the place, composed "Nona sinfonia", and "Decima sinfonia" and " Il canto della terra ". Today you can visited one of the rooms where Gustav Mahler lived with to its wife Alma and " la casetta di composizione ", a wood small house.
