The name "Nidrindorf "first appeared in documents from the year 994. Today famous with the name of Villabassa. The village is situated amide the nature b etween the Dolomites of Sesto and the Dolomites of Braies . This place is adapted to stays of cure and rest. Already 150 years ago Villabassa and the Val Pusteria were considered regions pioneer of the tirolese tourism.
Worth seeing places in Villa Bassa:
The Museum of the Tourism Alta Pusteria "Haus Wassermann" documents the history of the tourism in the Alta Pusteria. In 15° the century it was still residence of the noble family Von Kurz, then from 1892 to 1977 was property of the Wassermann family that opened in this house a coffee - pastry shop.
The St. Stephen's Parish Church was built in 1792-96. A fresco by Simon von Taisten may be seen in the Chapel of the Deceased. A Gothic-style twofold chapel, the lower part the Chapel of the Deceased above the St. Anne's Chapel dating from the 15th century is located to the left of the church
The chapel of the hospital of the Santa Trinità, was constructed in the same period in which was constructed the hospital (1456-1473), around to the half of the 1600 was widened until assuming the actual structure. The furnishing of the chapel is in baroque style.
The church of Santa Maddalena is located to Moso in direction of Monguelfo and was constructed in 1490 on a commission basis of the countness Paola di Gonzaga, wife of Margrave Leonhard von Görz.
