Monguelfo - Tesido in Val Casies in the Alta Val Pusteria

Monguelfo - Tesido is located on 1087 m sea level in the valley entrance of the Valle Casies. A life between urban idyl and the fascination of the mountains. In addition Monguelfo offers much at culture: worth seeing are the village on the traces of the famous painter Paul Troger, pictures, art exhibitions and classical concerts in the castle of Monguelfo.

Worth seeing places in Monguelfo - Tesido:

The Castle of Monguelfo lies in Val Pusteria, only ten minutes far from Monguelfo hamlet, in a strategic position above the Valle di Casies
The castle was built in 1140 by the two brother Otto and Schwinkher from Monguelfo. This latest wanted the overhanging upon his lands. For more than 800 years the castle from Monguelfo had been property of the von Welspergs, one of the mightiest families in Tyrol, who obtained the title of Prince of the Holy Roman Empire in 1693 by the emperor Leopold I.

The most famous son Monguelfo is Paul Troger (1698 - 1762). The probably most well-known baroque painter of the Austrian-South German area in Monguelfo to the world came.

The romantic church of S.George in Taisten, is the oldest architectural monument of the Alta Val Pusteria. The church has almost square sketch with pre-aged, semicircular Apsis. A church between Romanesque and gothic and of very intensive radiant emittance.
